How to Watch The Office Online: Stream the hit show for free

Image used with permission by copyright holder

Wondering how to watch The Office online in the U.S. now it has left Netflix? You need to subscribe to Peacock, the new streaming service from NBCUniversal. The first two seasons can be streamed for free. Seasons three through nine require a Peacock Premium subscription, which starts at $4.99 a month one-week free trial is available if you sign up through Digital Trends today.

To celebrate the return of The Office to NBC, where it first aired in the U.S., the network has launched a collection of so-called “Superfan Episodes” — extended episodes featuring never-before-seen footage. “Having The Office back in the NBC family opens up access to a lot of extra content that we originally shot,” said The Office U.S. creator Greg Daniels in a statement.

NBC launched a new channel on Peacock to celebrate the release. Titled The Office Zen, the station broadcasts The Office-like ambient sounds 24 hours a day, seven days a week, described by NBC as “a channel of ambient noise devoted to the sights and sounds of the office for anyone working at home.” But for most fans, the episodes are the only background sound they want.

Buy Individual Episodes or Entire Seasons …

While an unpopular choice, you have the option to purchase individual episodes and even entire seasons. If you’ll be signing up to Peacock exclusively for The Office, we recommend purchasing The Office: The Complete Series on iTunes for $30 and taking advantage of the to watch the new Superfan Episodes. Do this now and you’ll save $15 this year alone.

Should you for whatever reason choose to venture down this route, you’ll be able to use these purchases to create your very own The Office streaming service (more on that in a bit) by transferring them from iTunes to your Mac/PC for local access. Alternatively, you can stream them through the Apple TV application on any compatible Apple device after purchasing.

Alternatively, you can buy The Office DVD set on Amazon for $50. It’s $20 more than the digital version on iTunes, but this way you have cold, hard DVDs in your possession. Things get a little tricky here, though, if you want to store them digitally as well as copyright protection prohibits you from burning content stored on DVDs to a computer or a different personal media device.

… and Create Your Own Streaming Service

Hear us out. The Office has been known to move around a lot, bouncing from streaming service to streaming service in the U.S. Sure, it’s safe to assume it has found its retirement home in Peacock, but who wants to fork out $4.99 a month? We’re die-hard fans. You want to watch The Office forever, right? So why not create your own personal streaming service using Plex?

This isn’t as complicated as it sounds. It’s a bit like uploading a file to Dropbox, but in this case you’re uploading episodes of The Office to your very own Plex Server, which you can access through Smart TVs, and on Android and iOS, and online. You even have the option to download episodes or entire seasons for offline viewing — something Peacock currently doesn’t offer.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.
