Season 2 of HBO’s ‘Insecure’ will feature more episodes than the first season

If you are still searching for closure after the ending of season 1 of the HBO series Insecure, you will not get it here. But you can get a glimpse into the new season. Insecure co-creator and lead actress Issa Rae released a teaser trailer for season 2 on Twitter on Wednesday.

The teaser trailer will surely agonize die-hard fans still reeling after season one’s emotional finale. At the end of last season, the relationship between Rae’s character, Issa, and her boyfriend, Lawrence, played by Jay Ellis, seemed to be over. In the teaser trailer, the two can be seen on a couch with a pillow in between them that reads “hella confused.”

Initially, season 2 was reported to consist of eight episodes, just like season one. But IMDB has listed acting credits for 10 episodes. Interestingly, Issa’s former love interest, Lawrence, is only credited with appearing in one episode in the new season — and not until episode 4. The first two episodes of the new season are entitled Hella Great and Hella Questions, respectively. With names like that, it may be safe to say we are in for an emotional roller coaster to start the new season.

When you watch the new season, it may not look the same as last season, thanks to all the new faces. Bosch‘s Spencer Garret appears as John Merril in six episodes this season, including the season premiere. Sarunas J. Jackson is another newcomer to the show. He’ll play the role of Alejandro ‘Dro’ Peña in six episodes. Jackson may be best known for his voice-over work on NBA 2K as Frequency Vibrations, the player character in NBA 2K16’s MyCAREER mode.

Insecure may have inspired a lot of relationship tweets last fall, but it was not a ratings hit. Season 1 averaged roughly 413,000 viewers per episode — and only one episode from its first season topped 500,000 viewers. Even without a Silicon Valley audience size, Rae still garnered a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a comedy series.

Insecure returns to HBO at 10:30 p.m. ET on July 23.

The Last of Us TV show will return for Season 2 at HBO

HBO has confirmed that the critically acclaimed The Last of Us TV show will return for a second season.
This announcement comes from a tweet posted after only two of the series' episodes have aired. That said, the show garnered critical acclaim, broke some HBO viewership records, and doesn't yet appear to incorporate many plot elements from The Last of Us Part II, so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the series is continuing. According to the tweet, the second season of the show will air on HBO Max (or whatever that service ends up becoming later this year).

No release window, story, or casting announcements were made in relation to The Last of Us Season 2, although that isn't very surprising as the show's first season is still airing. That said, it seems extremely likely that it would follow the plot of The Last of Us Part II, which sees Ellie go on a quest for revenge after an extremely traumatic event that we won't spoil here. While the second game in this series proved to be much more divisive than the first, there's certainly no shortage of dramatic moments and intriguing plot developments for Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin to adapt to television in another season. The Last of Us is currently airing on HBO and streaming on HBO Max every Sunday night. Digital Trends gave the series a four-star review, with Alex Welch writing that The Last of Us is a "lovingly made, often emotionally riveting adaptation of what is one of the most treasured titles in video game history."

HBO Max’s Hacks season 2 teaser is testing out new material

The first season of Hacks quickly became one of the most popular original comedy series on HBO Max last year. Audiences just couldn't resist the two lead characters, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). On paper, the two women have little in common beyond comedic chops. However, Deborah badly needed new jokes to freshen up her Las Vegas comedy act while Ava was haunted by an insensitive tweet she wrote years before that nearly destroyed her Hollywood dreams. But as Deborah's new comedy writer, Ava has a chance to prove herself again and put the controversy behind her.

The first teaser trailer for Hacks season 2 has arrived, and it shows us the ups and downs of Deborah and Ava's relationship. There are times when Deborah acts like Ava's best friend in the world, but as the trailer also shows, there are moments when Deborah's wrath toward Ava is intense and frightening.

HBO’s The White Lotus lines up its season 2 cast members

HBO's The White Lotus was a breakout hit last year thanks to its deft mixture of dark comedy and melodrama. While the first season took place in The White Lotus Hawaiian resort, the new season will be switching locations to another exotic destination. Per Variety, The White Lotus season 2 will be set in the Sicilian resort town of Taormina. A few of the new cast members have also already been revealed.

Former Parks and Recreation and Legion star Aubrey Plaza has signed on to star in the show as Harper Spiller. According to TVLine, Harper is "a woman on vacation with her husband and his friends." TVLine is also reporting that Michael Imperioli is joining The White Lotus cast, returning to HBO over a decade after his starring run in The Sopranos. Imperioli will portray Dominic Di Grasso, a man who is on vacation with both his elderly father and his college-age son.
