A coming-of-age story, the film follows a woman whose marriage is falling apart as she leaves Los Angeles and settles down on a pot farm up north. She ends up falling in love with a biker and settling in to a completely different way of life — an “outlaw lifestyle.” Soloway revealed to Variety that the film is “partly autobiographical,” but she kept most plot details to herself.
Soloway did also share that working with the Amazon Studios film team has been enjoyable, and she especially had kind words for motion picture production chief Ted Hope, who has produced numerous indie films over the course of his career.
“It makes my heart swell that they’ve hired all these people from the indie world who are all about the artists,” said Soloway.
In addition to Hope, Soloway is set to collaborate with Sarah Gubbins, who will be her co-writer, and Andrea Sperling and Robin Ruzan, who will serve as producers.
Soloway’s work with Amazon Studios is certainly keeping her busy. Transparent has already been renewed for a third season and is set to premiere some time in 2016. On top of that, the studio previously locked Soloway down for future television projects with an exclusive deal with her production company.
Amazon has been busy ramping up production of original films. The studio’s first, Spike Lee’s Chi-raq, premiered on Prime Video in February. Other movies in the works include one from filmmaker Barry Levinson, Tamara Jenkins’ Private Life, Tom Kuntz’s romantic comedy Desired Moments, and more.
