The producers behind the movie formerly known as jOBS (yes, they had a meeting about the much-ridiculed little ‘j’ and went for a big ‘j’ instead, dumping its awkward attempt at referencing the tech company’s iconic naming scheme) have released what’s thought to be the first movie trailer on the Instagram platform.

Of course, with the media-sharing service introducing a video option in June, it was only a matter of time before a movie maker cut together a 15-second piece promoting their flick.

Whereas the recent Wolverine trailer on Vine was borderline bonkers in its quick-fire cutting, Jobs on Instagram runs more like a traditional trailer, and no doubt will be the first of many such movie promos appearing on the service.

We’ve embedded it below alongside the full-length trailer so you can compare the two.

Jobs, which arrives in theaters on August 16, is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and written by Matt Whitely, and covers the life of the late Apple co-founder from 1971 when he first met Steve Wozniak to the mid-90s by which time the company had become one of the most recognized brands in the world.

The movie features Ashton Kutcher in the lead role, Josh Gad as co-founder Steve Wozniak, Matthew Modine as former CEO John Sculley, and Dermot Mulroney as early Apple investor and former CEO Mike Markkula.

10 best movie trailers of 2023, ranked
Furiosa leans back on a wall of fire in Furiosa.

2023 is in the rearview mirror now as the holiday season creeps upon us, meaning it's time for the oh-so-fun season of year-end lists. While there will undoubtedly be dozens of lists commemorating the best movies of the year, it's important to note a smaller yet essential sort of video: the movie trailer.

A good movie trailer is composed of a lot of things, but the biggest aspect of a successful trailer is one that accentuates the hype of a movie while not spoiling the film itself. A trailer that spoils a movie's entire plot is the worst. It's also the worst, though, when a trailer leaves you so in the dark about the movie that a viewer feels no interest in the film itself. It's a delicate balance that only a few of the best trailers really smash it out of the park.

A new era begins in first Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer
Noa and his bird friend in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

In 2011, Rise of the Planet of the Apes started a new chapter in the franchise by rebooting the film series and focusing on the story of the legendary ape leader Caesar. In 2017, War for the Planet of the Apes brought Caesar's story to a conclusion, but the reboot timeline lives on in next summer's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Generations have passed since the time of Caesar, and while the new movies haven't caught up with the time frame of the original movies yet, the first teaser trailer for Kingdom reveals that humanity is looking more and more like the savages they were in the first Planet of the Apes.

Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson bro up in Aquaman 2’s first trailer
Patrick Wilson and Jason Mamoa in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."

2019 seems like such a long time ago that it's easy to forget that Aquaman was far and away the most successful movie in the DC Extended Universe. The Flash and the rest of this year's superhero film flops could only dream of matching Aquaman's $1.148 billion worldwide gross. Can the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, deliver a turnaround for DC's movies ahead of the big James Gunn-led reboot? That remains to be seen. However, the first trailer for the film is banking heavily upon the burgeoning bromance between Jason Momoa's Aquaman/Arthur Curry, and his estranged half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson).
