The premiere of Jurassic World is just a few months away at this point, but the first official clip from the film arrived online this week — and it’s surprisingly empty of, well … dinosaurs.
Still, the brief clip that debuted via MTV does offer some insight regarding the relationship between the film’s two leads, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Over the course of the 90 seconds of footage (which is preceded by a 20-second teaser for the MTV Movie Awards), Pratt and Howard’s characters discuss the new dinosaur created for the park, with Howard delivering a request to have Pratt’s character evaluate the dinosaur’s enclosure for vulnerabilities. They also engage in some relationship-related banter and offer up some reasons why their first date didn’t work out, with some discussion of the dynamic between Pratt’s character and the velociraptors tossed in for good measure.
Given what we know of the film already — and what’s happened in just about every prior film — it seems pretty safe to assume that the aforementioned enclosure fails to contain the new super-dinosaur, and lots of running and screaming ensues. Maybe they should’ve spent more time talking about the super-dinosaur and less time discussing their date, perhaps?
Along with Pratt and Howard, the cast of Jurassic World includes Ty Simpkins (Insidious), Jake Johnson (Let’s Be Cops), Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer), Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi), Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil), BD Wong (Jurassic Park), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Katie McGrath (Merlin), Lauren Lapkus (Blended), and Andy Buckley (Bridesmaids). The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed), and is set more than two decades after the events of the original Jurassic Park.
Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12, 2015.
