Following the recent passing of acclaimed actor and Oscar-winning filmmaker Richard Attenborough, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow posted a photo from the set of the upcoming Jurassic Park sequel that pays tribute to the role Attenborough played in the blockbuster franchise.

Accompanied by the simple statement “In memoriam,” Trevorrow posted a photo to Twitter depicting a statue of John Hammond, the character Attenborough played in the first two films in the Jurassic Park franchise. It’s safe to assume that the statue is from the set of the upcoming film, which unfolds 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park.

Attenbrough’s role in the early films was that of the park’s creator, the billionaire CEO of bioengineering company InGen, who brings the cast of characters to the island to verify it’s safety. As anyone who’s seen the 1993 film can attest, the park is anything but safe, and Hammond and the cast find themselves fighting to survive the “attractions.”

The new film unfolds years after the park was eventually reopened, and long after the novelty of living dinos has waned for guests. Attempts by the park’s new owners to drum up more excitement go awry (as they always tend to do), and a new cast of characters find themselves fighting for survival.

Jurassic World stars Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt, as well as Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Judy Greer, and Lauren Lapkus. The film is scheduled to hit theaters June 12, 2015.

Beyond Marvel and Jurassic World: Chris Pratt’s 5 best roles
Owen on his bike in Jurassic World.

Chris Pratt has had a very interesting career. His first major role came way back in 2002 when he co-starred in the short-lived WB series Everwood. Pratt played supporting roles in multiple films throughout the early 2000s, including Jennifer's Body, Take Me Home Tonight, The Five-Year Engagement, and What's Your Number. However, his breakthrough came with the critically-acclaimed NBC hit Parks and Recreation, playing the dim-witted but lovable Andy Dwyer, a role that earned him a Critics Choice Award nomination in 2013.

Major critical and commercial acclaim came thanks to his starring role in James Gunn's 2014 space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy. The film turned Pratt into a bonafide star and the action man of tomorrow, setting the stage for his future roles in major blockbusters. Pratt remains an A-lister, even if his reputation and box office receipts have suffered in recent years. And while the roles he plays are often similar, he manages to imbue each with enough charm and charisma, delivering several memorable characters that cement his reputation as a quality leading man.

Women inherit the Earth in new Jurassic World Dominion video
The women of Jurassic World Dominion.

In the original Jurassic Park, Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm famously says "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man, man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs." But what really makes the scene is the response by Laura Dern's Dr. Ellie Sattler: "Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the Earth." That particular line appears to have inspired a new featurette from Universal Pictures' Jurassic World Dominion. At the beginning of the video, Dern talks about the unexpected impact she had as Ellie, simply because she wasn't held back by gender roles. Ellie was both a brilliant scientist and a capable heroine.

The influence of Ellie looms large on her successor, Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the leading heroine of the Jurassic World films. Howard is almost giddy when she gets to talk about how influential Dern was as Ellie. And the appreciation appears to be mutual from Dern.
