Lin-Manuel Miranda, Broadway wunderkind and creator of Hamilton will be getting sloshed and telling us about the duel that brought the demise of his show’s titular hero.
The non-alcohol-infused version of the story is that former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton had a long-standing feud with sitting Vice President Aaron Burr, which culminated in a duel at Weehawken, New Jersey, on July 11, 1804. Hamilton shot first and may or may not have missed deliberately. Burr then delivered his shot, which struck the founding father in the abdomen. He died from his wound the next day.
While that story may sound more depressing than comedic, it was more than 200 years ago, and you can expect Miranda and company to get some serious laughs out of their twisted, drunken retelling. No word yet on who might play Burr — or any of the other principals — but we’ll keep you updated as the information filters in.
Also on tap for the upcoming season is the story of first lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s (Busy Philipps) friendship with Soviet soldier Lyudmila Pavlichenko (Mae Whitman), and their shared fight for women’s rights. That installment will be narrated by Paget Brewster (Another Period).
Season 4 is set to premiere on September 27, 2016. Among the other stars making cameos are Michael Cera, Josh Charles, Kat Dennings, Dave Grohl, Tony Hale, Ed Helms, Thomas Middleditch, Elizabeth Olsen, Aubrey Plaza, Ronda Rousey, Liev Schreiber, Alia Shawkat, and Duncan Trussell.
