The return of the supernatural series was initially announced on Facebook by IDW Publishing, the publisher of the comic book series that inspired the show. The series’ renewal was then confirmed on Twitter by Netflix with a brief video featuring a spinning key with a “2” engraved in it.

The announcement was not accompanied by any indication of when season 2 of Locke & Key will premiere, but given that the season has yet to begin filming and most television productions are currently on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show probably won’t return until sometime in 2021 at the earliest.

Season 1 of Locke & Key premiered in February 2020 and introduced audiences to the Locke family, who leave their home in Seattle to move to a quiet town in Massachusetts. Now living in the family’s ancestral home, known as Keyhouse, the children soon discover that the house holds many secrets — including a set of powerful keys that give them fantastic and occasionally terrifying abilities.

Their discovery puts them at odds with a mysterious entity who’s also searching for the keys and has a long history with both Keyhouse and their father, whose murder prompted the family’s return to Massachusetts.

The rest of the series’ regular cast includes Darby Stanchfield as family matriarch Nina Locke, Connor Jessup as eldest son Tyler Locke, Emilia Jones as middle child Kinsey Locke, and Petrice Jones and Griffin Gluck as a pair of Kinsey’s fellow students. Supporting cast members include Bill Heck as deceased family patriarch Rendell Locke, Aaron Ashmore as Rendell’s younger brother, Duncan Locke, and Thomas Mitchell Barnet as Rendell’s disturbed former student and murderer, Sam Lesser.

Everything we know about Wednesday season 2
Wednesday Addams with Thing on her shoulder in "Wednesday."

It took just over 30 years for The Addams Family to recapture the public's imagination after the 1991 film and its 1993 sequel, Addams Family Values. Wednesday not only reinvigorated Charles Addams' signature creations, but it also became one of Netflix's most popular shows, surpassing even Stranger Things. That's why it was appropriate that The Addams Family's Christina Ricci had a part in Wednesday season 1 that allowed her to pass the torch to the current Wednesday, Jenna Ortega.

Wednesday season 2 is on the way to Netflix, and we're sharing everything we know about the upcoming season, including when it will return, what to expect, and more.
When will Wednesday season 2 be released?
2025 at the earliest. Netflix has confirmed the nearly three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, which was pushed back because of the actors and writers strikes of 2023.

A woman puts a crown on a man in The Crown.

Netflix is home to many great shows. It's also the most prolific and well-known streaming service of them all, with a large catalog of original and acquired content. However, the King of Streamers is also famous for being quite trigger-happy. Indeed, Netflix is no stranger to canceling its shows, even if it spent millions producing them; if they don't yield immediate results, the streamer will pull the plug without blinking an eye.

Still, many original shows have beaten the cancellation curse and had a successful life, at least by streaming standards. These shows are Netflix's best efforts that actually got to enjoy a full life cycle, receiving more than five seasons. None might come close to the 100-episode mark, but these beloved series prove to hopeful showrunners everywhere that there is indeed life on Netflix after season 5.
