Marvel’s Black Panther casts yet another heavy hitter, this one as its bad guy

The cast of Marvel’s Black Panther now packs extra punch. Creed star Michael B. Jordan has reportedly signed on, THR reported Friday.

Although moviegoers cheered for Jordan’s character as he pursued his boxing dreams in last fall’s Rocky spinoff, they may be rooting against him in Black Panther; at least one source tells THR that he’ll play the film’s villain. Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but if he is indeed stirring up trouble as a bad guy, he’ll face off against the Wakanda warrior king, T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman), also known as Black Panther.

The African superhero recently made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, which has already brought in $788.23 million since its May 6 opening, according to Box Office Mojo data. Black Panther will be the character’s first stand-alone film, and the studio is clearly working to surround him with a strong cast. Just a day before word of Jordan’s casting broke, it was reported that Oscar winner and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to play the female lead.

By joining the cast, Jordan has teamed up yet again with director Ryan Coogler. Black Panther marks their third collaboration; the two previously worked together on both Creed and the 2013 biographical drama Fruitvale Station. Evidently, they enjoy joining forces, and since they do it well, we’re all for i, too.

Jordan is no Marvel newbie. He starred as the Human Torch in The Fantastic Four last year and is reportedly a huge comic book fan. The actor is even co-writing a series called North that may ultimately be adapted for the screen, with him in the starring role.

Black Panther is expected to begin production next year and slated to hit theaters on February 18, 2018.

Emotions are running high in America. No, I'm not talking about politics; I'm talking about Inside Out 2. The Pixar animated movie about the inner life of a pre-teen's emotions has reigned supreme in June, grossing so much ,money that it's already on the list of the 10 most successful animated movies ever.

Not everyone is interested in that movie, or another Bad Boys sequel, or even The Bikeriders. There are those who prefer to stay home and see what's on Netflix. But instead of watching the dreadful Jessica Alba action flick Trigger Warning, try these three older movies that are almost as good, if not better, than what you can find at the movie theater.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.

Two men spy from a car in The Limey.

As we head toward the end of June, it's worth reflecting on how we want to spend the rest of summer. For some, that's going to mean enjoying nice weather or getting some time in at the beach. For others, it might mean escaping from the heat, at least for a while, to check out a great movie.

If you fall into that second category, then we've pulled together a list of three great, underrated, titles available on Amazon Prime Video that are all worth checking out. Prime Video is home to some of the best movies available online, but it can be hard to find the ones you want. These three will at least give you a great place to start.
