Set in Mexico, Club De Cuervos will focus on the wealthy Iglesias family. When their patriarch dies, his heirs will fight for control of his professional soccer team, the Cuervos of Neuvo Toledo. Chava, the playboy son, parties as hard as his sister, Isabel, works, so naturally, they’ll find themselves at odds. Further complicating things is the fact that their father’s girlfriend claims she’s pregnant with their half-sibling. Yet, conflict isn’t limited to those at the top of the organization. Everyone — from coaches to players — adds to the captivating chaos.
As Netflix puts it, “Balanced equally among comedy and drama, Club De Cuervos follows all the funny, sexy and dramatic action off the field and in the locker rooms. Egos, tempers, insults and soccer balls fly as the party boy brother, the work obsessed sister, a (possibly) pregnant girlfriend, the beleaguered team captain and everyone else in between all enter the pitch, all vying to score a personal goal.”
Club De Cuervos comes from Gaz Alazraki, the director of Nosotros Los Nobles, a 2013 film with an 83 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (at the time of publishing), and Mike Lam. Actor Luis Gerardo Méndez, who starred in Nosotros Los Nobles, will team up with Alazraki again on Club De Cuervos as the hard-partying Chava. Isabel will be played by Mariana Trevino, and Stephanie Cayo, Daniel Gimenez Cacho, Ianis Guerrero and Antonio de la Vega will co-star. Alazraki, Lam, Leonardo Zimbron, and Jay Dyer, will executive produce, with producers Moises Chiver and Monica Vargas.
The 13-episode first season of Club De Cuervos will be released in its entirety exclusively on Netflix on August 7.
