What’s new on Peacock in June 2024

Keanu Reeves in John Wick Chapter 2.
Lionsgate

If you’re coming to Peacock in June looking for big movies premiering for the first time or new original series, then you may be disappointed. It’s going to be a quiet month on that front for Peacock, perhaps because a good deal of June will be focusing on the U.S. Olympic trials ahead of the Olympic Games later this summer.

On the bright side, Peacock’s incoming lineup of movies is very solid, including the first three John Wick films, The Bourne Identity, Gladiator, and more. There are also some head-scratching arrivals including several Christmas films that are about five months premature. Of those flicks, Anna and the Apocalypse‘s delightful blend of zombies, musicals, and Christmas cheer is a particular favorite of ours.

For wrestling fans, this year’s WWE Clash at the Castle is coming from Scotland. And for younger viewers, Peacock’s Megamind Rules! animated series is back with some new episodes.

Keep reading for the complete list of films, series, news programming, and live sporting events coming to Peacock in June 2024. Our recommendations are highlighted in bold. (Note: Some content will not be available to watch without a paid subscription at the Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus levels.)

If Peacock isn’t your only go-to streaming service, we also have helpful guides to the best movies on Netflix and best shows on Netflix, as well as the best movies streaming on Amazon and best shows streaming on Amazon, plus plenty of other guides for Hulu, Disney+, and Max (HBO).

The 50 best movies on Netflix right now (June 2024)
Shailene Woodley in Divergent.

At the time this post was published, The Flash has risen to No. 2 on the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. Now, we're not doctors or lawyers here at Digital Trends, but it would be malpractice to ever say that The Flash belongs anywhere near the best movies on Netflix. The same goes for Madame Web, the only superhero movie of 2024 that rivals The Flash for lack of quality.

We'll also be the first to admit that another recent arrival, Divergent, isn't necessarily the best that Netflix has to offer. But between this YA sci-fi dystopia and The Flash, we'll go with Divergent every time. However, we're much more enthusiastic about Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, which is a lot better than we ever expected a Pokémon movie to be.

The best movies on Amazon Prime Video (June 2024)
Peter Dinklage in Cyrano.

Do you get the end of the month blues while looking for movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video? That's something Amazon can deliver without a package. Aside from the I Am Celine Dion documentary, Prime Video isn't offering anything new while running down the clock to July. New movies will arrive on the first of the month, but it's going to be a long wait if you're bored with June's selections.

We've decided to put the focus on two movies in Prime Video's library: Cyrano and Edge of Darkness. Between those two flicks, romance and action fans have something they can enjoy. Until the first of July arrives, these are the best movies on Amazon Prime Video right now. And don't worry, we'll have some new selections for you in time for the Fourth of July weekend.

Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong'o in A Quiet Place: Day One.

Having a box office smash like Pixar's Inside Out 2 really goes a long way towards making the cinema fun to talk about again. And it turns out that predictions that Inside Out 2 would finish its domestic run at around $500 million were too conservative, considering that it had over $100 million in its second weekend after a $154 million opening the week before. As of June 27, Inside Out 2 already has $400 million domestic, and there's no telling how high it can climb now.

The real question is whether the sci-fi horror film, A Quiet Place: Day One, can knock Inside Out 2 from the No. 1 slot. Unlike The Bikeriders, Day One has a real chance because the Quiet Place franchise is established, and Inside Out 2 has to come down to Earth eventually. If Day One can hit its $40 to $50 million projection, then it just might pull off that feat. Unfortunately, it might take a miracle to save Kevin Costner's passion project, Horizon. Costner bet on himself and used a lot of his own money to make this big-budget western, but the early predictions for Horizon have it at around $12 million. That would make it a flop out of the gate.
