Holmes, Watson tackle new case in first teaser trailer for ‘Sherlock’ season 4

Sherlock has been testing the patience of its fans over the past two years and counting, but season 4 looks like it will be well worth the wait. The first teaser hit the internet today and showed signs of a dark and dangerous mystery — one that possibly involves a villain thought to be dead.

Stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return as the crime-solving duo of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. As always, it is unclear what they are up against: “Something’s coming,” teases the video. “Maybe it’s Moriarty, maybe it’s not.”

Moriarty (played by Andrew Scott) does appear briefly in the teaser, but since he is supposed to be dead, it is hard to say what role he will play in the upcoming season. At least one villainous role is reportedly being filled by actor Toby Jones; he certainly has the madman laugh down pat in the preview.

No matter who is stirring up trouble next in the world of Sherlock, they’re doing a good job of it. The teaser is an intense one, featuring explosions, helicopters, and what looks like a car chase.  “It’s not a game,” we’re told. Clearly not.

With so much up in the air, there is only one question we can answer after watching the video: “Did you miss me?” The series has definitely been missed; by the time season 4 premieres, it will have been a year since the most recent special, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, and three years since the conclusion of season 3.

Season 4 is clearly going to be a big one, and it should be one to savor. Co-creator Steven Moffat recently revealed the possibility that the upcoming season could be the last.

Sherlock season 4 is set to premiere in 2017.

The best new characters in You season 4, ranked
The characters from season 4 of You standing at a bar, all looking at something or someone out of view.

You, one of the best shows on Netflix, commenced its fourth season with the first five episodes on February 9 and the remaining five set for release on March 9.  Now that Joe (Penn Badgley) is going by the name Jonathan and working as a professor in London, he is reluctantly making new friends. Once again, something about Joe draws people in the upper echelon of society to him, even when he doesn't quite fit in.

The newly introduced characters are mostly snobby, elitist spoiled rich kids who make up for what they lack in talent and drive with ample bank accounts. Each comes from a wealthy family and most of them haven’t had to work a day in their lives. Joe resents them for it, revolted by every conversation. But there’s no denying they make for good television. Interestingly, many of the best new characters in You are just as awful as Joe, but in different ways.

Ruth is out for revenge in Ozark season 4, part 2 teaser
Julia Garner in Ozark.

For most of its critically acclaimed run, Netflix's Ozark has focused on Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) as they found themselves pulled deeper and deeper into the criminal underworld. But in the first look at Ozark's final episodes, Julia Garner's Ruth Langmore takes the spotlight away from the Byrde family. In the first part of Ozark season 4, Ruth vowed to get her revenge on would-be drug lord Javier "Javi" Elizondro (Alfonso Herrera). She may get what she wants, but there's no guarantee that she will make it out alive.

Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for Ozark season 4, part 2, which is narrated by Ruth, who shares her belief that her family is cursed. The Langmores are a criminal family, and Ruth doesn't pretend that they're innocent, or even that she is. Ruth has actively taken part in the family business. But after Javier murdered her cousin, Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan), and her business partner, Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery), Ruth told the Byrdes that they would have to kill her to stop her from avenging her loss.
