James Bond is on the trail of a deadly agency in first trailer for SPECTRE

Spectre Teaser Trailer
Filming is still underway on SPECTRE, the next installment of the James Bond franchise that pits the British super-spy against a mysterious organization bent on dismantling the secret service and everything Agent 007 holds dear. In the first teaser trailer for the film, audiences get a hint of what’s to come for Bond and his investigation of the secretive group with roots deeper than he ever imagined.

Skyfall director Sam Mendes returns for the upcoming film, which will be the 24th big-screen adventure in the James Bond franchise and see Daniel Craig reprise his role as James Bond, the world-famous spy whose formidable skills are only matched by his sense of style.

Craig is joined in the cast by Ben Wishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Monica Bellucci (Irreversible), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Léa Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds), Stephanie Sigman (Miss Bala), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), and Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace).

The trailer also offers the first — albeit shadowed — look at Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) as the film’s villain, thus far identified as “Oberhauser.” Early speculation suggested (and continues to suggest) that Waltz could actually be playing the notorious villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the leader of SPECTRE who was memorably portrayed by Donald Pleasence and Telly Savalas in past movies. So far, the cast and creative team on the film have declined to confirm (or deny) that Blofeld will be a character in the film.

The official synopsis for the film reads as follows:

In the movie, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

SPECTRE is scheduled to arrive in standard and IMAX theaters November 6, 2015.

Where to stream all the James Bond movies
Sean Connery as James Bond in Dr. No.

For many viewers hoping to watch popular franchises, the era of streaming has been a remarkable gift. Suddenly, a wide array of huge blockbuster movies were at your fingertips and easily accessible. Unfortunately, that only made the difficulty of tracking down the James Bond franchise feel all the more apparent. If you were looking for any given Bond film, there were no guarantees about where you might be able to watch it.

Now that Amazon has acquired MGM Studios, which has long been the home of James Bond, it just became much easier to stream the entire 60-year-old franchise in a single place. Every James Bond movie is now available on Prime Video, which means you can watch them all in order from the beginning. Amazon was quick to clarify that this expansive array of Bond films would only be available for a "limited time," but it didn't offer much detail on what exactly that means.
How much is Amazon Prime Video?
If you don't normally subscribe to Amazon Prime but have a hankering for Bond, you can sign up for just Amazon Prime Video for $8.99 per month. You can also subscribe to Amazon Prime more generally, which is $14.99 per month and gives you the added benefit of free two-day shipping on a wide array of products sold on Amazon. Amazon also charges $139 for a full year of Prime, which is a lower rate than the monthly charge.
Is it worth it to subscribe just for Bond?

Father and daughter bond in the first trailer for Aftersun
Francesca Corio and Paul Mescal in Aftersun.

Sometimes, you can tell which movies are going to play well during awards season. A24's upcoming release, Aftersun, seems likely to get a lot of attention simply by being unique in the marketplace. It's not a conventional drama, nor are the stakes sky-high. Instead, it's an emotionally affecting look at a young girl's bond with her father, through apparent home movies that were filmed decades ago. This gives Aftersun an unusual look that makes it stand out from the crowd. But it wouldn't mean anything if the viewer didn't care for the two leading characters.

One of James Webb’s first targets is Jupiter. Here’s why
Artist's conception of the James Webb Space Telescope

Astronomers the world over are buzzing with anticipation for the new science that will be possible once the James Webb Space Telescope, the world's most powerful space telescope, completes its commissioning. Since the telescope launched on December 25, 2021, it has unfurled its hardware into its final configuration, reached its final orbit around the sun, and completed aligning its mirrors with its primary camera, but there are still steps like the calibration of its instruments to go before it is ready for scientific use.

As soon as the commissioning phase is complete, which is set to wrap up this summer, the science observations will begin. And this is where things get exciting, as the telescope's high sensitivity and infrared capabilities will enable it to observe extremely distant objects, even fainter than those observed by current space-based telescopes like Hubble. It will usher in a new era of astronomical observations and could help to investigate topics as wide-ranging as how the first galaxies formed and whether planets in other star systems have atmospheres or not.
