Titled “Her Story,” the new Supergirl promo showcases Kara’s powerful abilities — and her efforts to learn how to use them to become a hero. Glee actress Melissa Benoist plays the title role in the new series, and she’s joined in the cast by Mehcad Brooks as James “Jimmy” Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord.
Former Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star Dean Cain and the star of the 1984 Supergirl movie, Helen Slater, are both confirmed to appear in the series in unidentified roles. The new teaser for Supergirl also features guest star Owain Yeoman as the villain Vartox.
Supergirl follows Kara’s quest to join the ranks of her famous cousin and the world’s other superheroes after years spent hiding her abilities. While there’s been no official confirmation that the series will cross over with the popular CW series Arrow and The Flash, which also feature DC Comics superheroes, rumors have suggested that such a merging of worlds is indeed possible if Supergirl is received well in its first season.
Scripted by No Ordinary Family writer Ali Adler and Arrow and The Flash writer Greg Berlanti, the pilot episode of Supergirl received rave reviews from fans after an early screening at Comic-Con International in San Diego earlier this month.
Supergirl will premiere Monday, October 26, at 8:30pm ET on CBS. It will then move to a regular slot at 8:00pm ET on Mondays.
