The first Batman v. Superman teaser is now officially out in HD

What a week it’s been for movie trailers: A couple of days ago we got teaser number two for Star Wars Episode VII and now Warner Bros. has treated us to our first proper look at Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (after a shaky pirated version spoiled the surprise). You can watch it in all its official high-definition glory above.

There’s plenty here to have DC Comics fans salivating in anticipation — Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill look suitably mean and moody as they glower at each other through the rain, and from the 133 seconds we get, it looks like conflicted soul-searching is going to play as much of a role as explosion-filled action sequences.

What we don’t get here are any glimpses of Gal Godot as Wonder Woman (confirmed to be in the movie) or Jason Momoa as Aquaman (a casting call that’s still a rumor at this point). No doubt director Zack Snyder has plenty more material in store for us over the next few months.

Snyder previously announced on Twitter that the first teaser trailer would appear this Monday, but after a pirated version of the clip leaked out on the Web, Warner Bros. has decided to push the button a couple of days early.

If you’re planning on catching the movie, you’ve still got a long time to wait: It’s not due to appear in theaters until March 2016. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. It’s intended as a sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that launched the DC Comics’ shared universe series — hence Batman and Superman showing up on screen together.

What do you think of how the film looks? Are there are any clues here about what we can expect to see in 2016? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
