Michael Bay is well aware that the long-awaited debut of the Dinobots is generating a lot of buzz for Transformers: Age Of Extinction, so it’s no surprise that many of the teasers, trailers, and other promotional materials have offered hints at what to expect when the dinosaur-themed Transformers are finally introduced to the blockbuster franchise.
And the latest trailer continues that trend — in a big way.
Along with providing a bit more insight into the events shaping the world since the last installment of the franchise, 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the latest trailer also serves up a hefty dose of both human and robot villains, as well as the sort of explosive action audiences have come to expect from a Michael Bay film. Several new additions to the cast of Autobots and Decepticons also appear in the trailer — including the gun-faced Lockdown, the bearded Hound (voiced by John Goodman), and a winged Dinobot — as well as the character many fans have been waiting to see since the very first Transformers premiered: Grimlock, the fire-breathing, robotic Tyrannosaurus Rex.
As with much of the promotional footage for Transformers films, the new trailer ends on an epic note, with Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) riding Grimlock into battle and the pair laying waste to an army of Decepticons.
Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters June 27 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T. J. Miller, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, and Titus Welliver, in addition to an all-star cast of voice actors that includes Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, John Goodman, and Ken Watanabe.
