Peacock’s Vampire Academy unveils first trailer at SDCC 2022

The first footage of Peacock’s Vampire Academy was revealed at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. Fans received an exclusive look at the opening 15 minutes of the young adult series, as well as a teaser trailer.

Based on the internationally best-selling book series by Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy centers around the friendship between Lissa, a Royal vampire, and her best friend and guardian, Rose. The two girls search for answers about their supernatural bond while navigating romance, politics, and magic at their vampire boarding school. The students also face an impending threat from the Strigo, the group of evil, bloodthirsty vampires outside the gates of the academy who only attack at night.

Daniela Nieves and Sisi Stringer star as Lissa and Rose, respectively. The rest of the cast includes Kieron Moore, André Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Jonetta Kaiser, Rhian Blundell, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, and Andrew Liner. Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Plec is best known for creating The Vampire Diaries with Scream writer Kevin Williamson. Plec went on to create the show’s spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies. MacIntyre acted on The Vampire Diaries, and wrote for both spinoffs.

This marks the second time the book series has been adapted for film or television. A film was released in 2014 starring Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry. However, the film was considered a box-office flop and a critical failure. The television series will feature none of the actors from the movie.

Emotions are running high in America. No, I'm not talking about politics; I'm talking about Inside Out 2. The Pixar animated movie about the inner life of a pre-teen's emotions has reigned supreme in June, grossing so much ,money that it's already on the list of the 10 most successful animated movies ever.

Not everyone is interested in that movie, or another Bad Boys sequel, or even The Bikeriders. There are those who prefer to stay home and see what's on Netflix. But instead of watching the dreadful Jessica Alba action flick Trigger Warning, try these three older movies that are almost as good, if not better, than what you can find at the movie theater.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.

As we head toward the end of June, it's worth reflecting on how we want to spend the rest of summer. For some, that's going to mean enjoying nice weather or getting some time in at the beach. For others, it might mean escaping from the heat, at least for a while, to check out a great movie.

If you fall into that second category, then we've pulled together a list of three great, underrated, titles available on Amazon Prime Video that are all worth checking out. Prime Video is home to some of the best movies available online, but it can be hard to find the ones you want. These three will at least give you a great place to start.
