iTunes Festival: Apple announces headliners for month-long music extravaganza in London

itunes festivalNow in its seventh year, the popular iTunes Festival returns to London again in September, with Apple on Thursday announcing some of the headliners already booked in for the month-long event.

Justin Timberlake, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jack Johnson, Queens of the Stone Age, Primal Scream, and Jessie J are all making their way to the UK capital for the festival, with around 50 other acts set to join them.

The event runs every night throughout September at the legendary Roundhouse venue in north London, with tickets for the event costing the princely sum of nothing.

Free live music from chart-topping acts means demand for tickets is, of course, very high. So how do you snag one? “Music fans from across the world, including the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Japan and Mexico can win tickets to the iTunes Festival through competitions run by local media partners,” Apple says on its website.

UK-based music fans can win tickets via the iTunes Festival app, the iTunes Store and select media partners such as Channel 4 and the Metro.

If your name’s not pulled from the hat – or you simply live too far away to even think about going – you can still get a taste of the action by watching the performances live or on-demand via an iDevice or on a computer with iTunes.

Apple executive Eddy Cue said this year’s festival is set to be “the best ever”, adding, “Music fans around the world are going to love watching this incredible month of music, whether in London at the Roundhouse or on their iOS device.”

In recent years Adele, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Oasis and Jack White have all played the iTunes Festival. More acts for this year’s event will be announced in the coming weeks and months via the festival’s Twitter feed and app.
