Game of Thrones could sweep the show. Netflix and HBO are going head-to-head. The 71st Primetime Emmys will air on Fox on tonight, Sunday, September 22, with plenty of awards, upsets, and drama on tap.

Game of Thrones has been nominated for a whopping 32 nominations for its final season, including for Best Drama. HBO’s fantasy epic has already won 10 trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys and is the clear favorite going into Sunday’s show.

Tonight’s Emmy ceremony put on by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will take place in Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. Here’s what you need to know about the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, including top categories and how to watch the show online.

When and where to watch

The Emmys will be broadcast on Fox starting at 5 p.m. PT on Sunday, September 22. Fox’s red carpet preshow will start at 3:30 p.m. PT, with 90 minutes of coverage of celebrities arriving for the big show. Who’s going to win big?

Most likely Game of Thrones. There’s precedent for a beloved show in its final season to sweep the Emmys – in 2014, Breaking Bad won almost every award its last season was nominated for. That means even though Season 8 got a mixed reception from fans online, it’ll probably walk away with the most accolades. According to a poll conducted by YouGov, 52% of people who watched the final season were either “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with it – and 72% think it deserves the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.

The other major thing to watch out fo is whether Netflix or HBO will walk away with the most wins. HBO has been nominated for 137 awards for Thrones, along with shows like Veep and Chernobyl. Netflix has 117 nominations, including for House of Cards, Russian Doll, and Ozark.

Of course, our predictions could be wrong — you’ll have to watch the Emmys to find out.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers live stream: how to watch the NBA online
Joel Embiid walks off the basketball court.

On the final day of the NBA regular season, Eastern Conference rivals will square up as the Brooklyn Nets head south to take on the Philadelphia 76ers. The game starts at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on Sunday, April 14. The 76ers will host the game inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The Nets season ends today after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs. It will be a long offseason in Brooklyn, as the organization needs to decide if it wants to sell off players for draft assets and start a rebuild. Philadelphia, however, will get at least one more week of games in the postseason, whether in the Play-In Tournament or first round. With a healthy Joel Embiid, the 76ers are one of the more dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference.

The best films of 2023 will be honored at the 2024 Oscars. Also known as the 96th Academy Awards, the 2024 Oscars will feature some of the biggest and brightest stars Hollywood has to offer, including Margot Robbie, Robert Downey Jr., Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Lily Gladstone, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and more. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will award Oscars in 23 categories, with the top prize being Best Picture. Jimmy Kimmel returns to host for the fourth time.

Oppenheimer leads the field with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things with 11, Killers of the Flower Moon with 10, and Barbie with eight. Can Oppenheimer complete its dominant awards season run with a Best Picture prize, or can The Zone of Interest or Poor Things pull off the improbable upset?
What channel is the Oscars on?
The 2024 Oscars will air on ABC starting at a new time of 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 10. This is a significant change from the regular 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT start time. However, ABC has decided to start the Oscars at 7 p.m. ET so it can air a new episode of Abbott Elementary upon the ceremony's completion at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. This strategy is similar to how the network airing the Super Bowl airs an episode of television following the Big Game.

NBA Sunday Showcase live stream: how to watch the doubleheader online
Anthony Davis holds a basketball and prepares for a shot.

With the football season completed, basketball will air more national games on Sunday afternoons as part of the NBA Sunday Showcase. The series kicked off on February 11 with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. This weekend, the Sunday Showcase features a special doubleheader. The Milwaukee Bucks face the Philadelphia 76ers in the first game, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers versus the Phoenix Suns.

The Bucks and the 76ers are two of the five best teams in the East. However, the 76ers have been fading as they continue to play without league MVP Joel Embiid, who is out with a meniscus injury. Meanwhile, the Lakers and Suns are in the top 10 in the West. However, both teams are currently positioned to appear in the Play-In tournament.
