The Ring Video Doorbell is a popular option for homeowners who want to keep an eye on what’s happening around their front door, especially with the holiday season upon us. Estimates state that as many as one in three packages will be the target of porch pirates this year. A video doorbell can help combat package theft, but it can also make your home more festive. Imagine that in place of the normal chime of your doorbell, it played a more festive tune.
Ring released a series of new chimes that users can choose from now. The full list includes:
- Thanksgiving Turkey
- Deck the Halls
- Elves
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
- Hark, the Herald Angels Sing
- Ho Ho Ho!
- Jingle Bells 1
- Jingle Bells 2
- Silent Night
- Sleigh Bells
- I have a Little Dreidel
- Ma’oz Tzur
- Oh Hanukkah
These tones are great options for those that just can’t wait till after Thanksgiving to begin decorating. What’s even more exciting is that on December 1, Ring owners can swap out their existing faceplates for three festive choices: A navy blue faceplate with Christmas lights in the background, a blue faceplate covered with snowflakes, and a red faceplate decorated with ornaments, trees, and candy canes.
This isn’t the first time Ring has gotten into the holiday spirit. Around Halloween, Ring added the option to add The Addams Family theme to your doorbell and use that as a chime.
If you aren’t familiar with the Ring Video Doorbell, it’s a device that functions as both a doorbell and a surveillance device. It streams video footage to your phone in 1080p resolution and has a 160-degree field of view. It also provides up to 30 feet of night vision thanks to four infrared LEDs. A motion sensor alerts you whenever activity is picked up, but you will also receive a push notification when someone presses the doorbell itself.
The Ring app provides a timeline of any activity the device picks up, including motion sensor activation and doorbell presses.
