Today, Canon unveiled its latest offering for aspiring cinematographers. Much like its previous video kits for the EOS Rebel T6i, Rebel T5i and EOS 70D, Canon has revamped its offering with brand new Canon EOS 80D and EOS M3 “Dare to Dream” Video Creator Kits.

Designed with YouTube enthusiasts in mind, these new sets offer an all-in-one solution for capturing, storing, and editing both video and audio.

Inside the Canon EOS 80D Video Creator Kit is an EOS 80D DSLR camera body, an EF-S 18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 IS USM lens, the Canon PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter, a RODE VideoMic Microphone, and a 32GB SD card. With some back-of-the-napkin math, these items would cost roughly $2,200 if purchased individually. The EOS 80D Video Creator Kit will retail for $2,050, offering a savings of $150 or so.

The Canon EOS M3 Video Creator Kit comes with an EOS M3 mirrorless camera, an EF-M 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM lens, a RODE VideoMic Microphone, and a 32GB SD card. Besides a less-impressive lens, this kit also lacks the automated Power Zoom adapter. But the lack of this makes for an even more affordable price point of $900.

In terms of deals, it’s possible that these kits could be had for less if you happen to find one of the camera bodies or a specific lens on sale. But Canon’s goal isn’t necessarily to create a more affordable option. It’s convenience.

Rather than having to look through all of the options, up and coming cinematographers can make a single purchase and get all of the equipment needed to get their work off the ground. The older Video Creator Kits are still available, so if you don’t need the latest and greatest, you can save even more money.

You can compare and purchase all of the Video Creator Kits on Canon’s dedicated microsite.
