Nikon has announced that it is currently developing an update to its flagship D4 full-frame DSLR, the D4S. So, what does it look like? Well, it looks exactly like the old D4.
The company made the announcement CES that the D4S is in development, but gave no exact details except to say that the new camera will have better autofocusing and the latest image processor. The camera, which was housed in glass on the show floor (it was most likely a dummy unit or an old D4 with D4S markings, resembled the D4 in almost every way; we could not identify what was different. So, for all we can guess, the final product will either be the same as the D4 or look slightly different when it’s all said and done.
To recap, the D4 is Nikon’s flagship DSLR. It’s a 16.2-megapixel full-frame camera for pros that costs $6,000. CES isn’t a show geared toward professionals, so we weren’t expecting Nikon to announce anything pro related. But perhaps this appease Nikon DSLR prosumer fans that something is on its way.
