Nikon’s Two New Lenses are Super Wide and Super Speedy

nikon-afs-lensNikon Inc. released two new wide angle lenses to excite the photography enthusiasts. The two new lenses,  AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED lens and the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, feature NIKKOR technology and the company’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM) technology for quiet, fast and accurate autofocus performance.

Nikon says the new AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED lens blends a “natural yet versatile” 24mm perspective with an ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture, while the f/1.4 maximum aperture allows photographers to shoot handheld in low light. And the company claims its new AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR lens is ideal for individuals “craving a constant maximum aperture and ultra-wide angle zoom versatility,” which is guided by Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) II image stabilization, and that users can shoot up to four shutter speeds slower, expanding low light shooting opportunities and contributing  better video capture.

“The 16-35mm f/4 VR and 24mm f/1.4 are two new lenses designed to address the needs of an ever-expanding number of Nikon FX-format photographers, delivering dramatic perspectives, amazing clarity, contrast and color when capturing stills or HD video,” said Edward Fasano, general manager for marketing, SLR Systems Products at Nikon Inc. “Customers that choose these new lenses will experience excellent image quality and sturdy handling, which is made possible through our commitment to excellence and expert NIKKOR engineering.”

The wide angle AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR will be available in late February 2010 at Nikon Authorized Dealers for about $1259.95, while the ultra-fast AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4 G ED lens will be available in late March 2010 for $2199.95.

nikon delays launch of its new z mount 70 200mm f28 lens nikkor

In January, Nikon unveiled the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S mirrorless lens at CES in Las Vegas. But the Japanese camera company has announced it's been forced to delay the launch of the new lens, citing “production reasons.”

The $2,600 telephoto zoom lens was originally slated to hit stores on February 14 -- perfect timing for devoted Nikon togs with a strong affection for their kit. But an update from the company issued in recent days means the date will slip. A new launch date is yet to be announced, but Nikon said it will offer more information as soon as it becomes available.
