Looking for ways to win free stuff this week? Well, we’ve got you covered. Here are five social media contests you can participate in. Low, er, no risk, high rewards – what’s to lose?
Hit the links with your LinkedIn network
Here’s a contest for the businessmen and women out there who want to head down to the country club and network the day away. Callaway is running a contest with LinkedIn called “Hit the Links” in which four winners – you and three golf buddies – can win a trip to Callaway HQ in California and golf as well as enjoy free customized clubs. Think of it as a glorified business appointment.
If you’re interesting, first visit Callawayhitthelinks.com and click on that LinkedIn button to connect your account. Once that’s done, click on the “Hit The Links” button. You’ll see three other LinkedIn friends fill out the rest of your foursome golf team. Callaway uses these criteria to automatically create your team:
- The Company Insider: Someone within your company. The API seeks out a golfer first, but if one isn’t available, then it selects the person with the most appropriate title.
- The Business Contact: Someone in your network and industry that you have the most connections in common with.
- The Golfer: To find the passionate golfer in your network, the API references attributes such as interests and group membership. The person with the highest number of connections in common will be selected.
The mix might be too awkward of a bunch since you probably have strictly professional contacts on LinkedIn or mere acquaintances. If that’s the case, you can rearrange your team manually.
The Prize: Paid roundtrip tickets, ground transportation and two nights in San Diego. And of course, you’ll win 18 holes of golf along with a “custom fitting” session.
Deadline: 11:59 PDT on May 24, 2013
‘Stache your way to an iPad and ‘Stache cash
This submission was a reminder for those of us out of school that summer is about to begin for all the college kids out there, since this contest is technically for 2013 college graduates.
Go to Stachetats.com, a site dedicated to selling temp mustache tattoos (you heard us right). Right now, it’s giving away free tats (no that’s not the prize). Since the contest actually starts on May 1, you’ll have some time before the start date of the contest to request a “Grad 2013” tattoo for free.
Now with your free ‘stache tattoo in tow, snap a photo of yourself with the mustache on your face, with cap and gown on during graduation, and be sure to like the StacheTats’ Facebook Page. Upload the photo to your Facebook account, tag the StacheTats page, and finally add “I Stached The Grad with StacheTats” in the comments. That’s it.
The Prize: What’s at stake is a 128 GB iPad and $1,000 in Stache cash (store credit). That’s just the first prize though: Second place receives a 16 GB iPad mini with $750 in Stache cash; third place receives $500 in Stache cash.
Deadline: You have until July 31, 2013 (12 AM MST)
Nab your own iRobot
Bed Bath and Beyond is giving away an iRobot and the winner can have his or her pick of the litter. There’s a vacuuming, floor scrubbing, mopping, and even a pool cleaning robot.
To enter, you’ll need to “Like” Bed Bath and Beyond’s Facebook Page, submit your name and email address, and then pin the image that pops up to Pinterest. That’s all there is to it. A winner is chosen everyday so you’ll have until May 1 to submit your entry for a chance to win an iRobot.
The Prize: Your pick of one iRobot
Deadline: 11:59 PM EST May 1, 2013
HP and Project Runway
HP has partnered with Project Runway to give you the option to win an ENVY x2 or a HP Ultrabook alongside a $500 Amazon gift card. HP is picking out a weekly theme so that’s a chance to win these prizes on a weekly basis by logging into Pinterest and creating boards based on the respective themes. This week’s theme is “Touch of Luxury,” for example. It’s up to you, the contestants, to figure out what “Touch of Luxury” means and come up with a creative group of pins inspired by the theme.
To enter, head to Pinterest and pin the HP notebook on the contest site, and then use your creativity to throw together some extra pins that represent what exactly “Touch of Luxury” means to you. Finally, share your board with friends and collect the most votes. The person with the most votes wins.
The Prize: Envy x2 or HP Ultrabook and $500 Amazon Gift Card
Deadline: April 29, 2013
Pick Russell Simmons’ brain for two hours
Lunch with Russell Simmons and two hours of his time in Los Angeles seems like a prize worth fighting for. That $5,000 cash prize is also a sweet bonus.
To win, you need to submit your email address on Myrisingtidecontest.com and then follow the instructions. Some writing is required so be prepared. You’ll have to explain a goal you’re trying to accomplish, and what steps you’ve taken already to reach that goal in 750 characters or less.
Then upload a photo of yourself (and only you) “actively pursuing your goal” with a 100 character or less photo caption that starts with “My tide is rising because…”. Finally tell your friends to vote for you, although if you look at the “Official Rules,” votes actually aren’t contingent on you winning. The actual winner will be chosen “at random” but probably based on the quality of the submission’s statements.
The Prize: Lunch with Russell Simmons for two hours in L.A. $5,000 in cash to help you jumpstart your “dream,” airfare for you and your friend to stay in L.A. for 3 days 2 nights, and “a tablet device.”
Deadline: 5:00 PM EST May 10, 2013
