Earlier this month, Facebook announced it would start supporting embedded posts – a smart move, albeit one that once again confirms Facebook’s not-so-subtle metamorphosis into Twitter.
So what does it look like? Let’s say you want to share one of the music videos from Kendrick Lamar’s Facebook page.
If you want to embed a post, even a video post, you just click in the top right corner. There, you’ll see options to “Report or mark as spam” or “Embed post.”
Once you’ve clicked “Embed post” the code will come up, which you can copy and paste.
Then you enter that code into your post, and voila! Facebook video comin’ atcha.
Now, this doesn’t work for every post on Facebook – they have to be public, so make sure the world icon is there before you go trying to embed an update.
Facebook also made sure to optimize this new capability for mobile by reducing the width of embedded posts, making them easier to view.
It’s official: With hashtags and embedding, saying something stupid on Facebook – publicly – could now end up just about anywhere. Mind your manners, folks.
