We currently live in a world where products like the Samsung Gear S, a smartwatch that can also make calls and send texts without it being tethered to a smartphone, exist. Burg looks to increase the number of such smartwatches by announcing the Burg 16A.
The 16A is equipped with a 1.54-inch 240 x 240 screen that displays Burg’s custom operating system. Storage is expandable up to 16GB, thanks to the Micro USB card slot found beneath the removable battery. However, the 16A’s claim to fame is the SIM card slot found next to it, which allows the 16A to make and receive calls, as well as send and receive text messages, so long as you’re using a GSM SIM card.
The 16A is equipped with a suite of proprietary applications, which include an image viewer, FM radio, calendar, calculator, and voice recorder. You can also listen to music stored on the 16A. Burg says the battery can chug along for three days. However, you won’t find any fancy wireless charging capabilities, as the 16A charges via a Micro USB port.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can currently purchase the 16A from Amazon and Shop HQ for $190. If you purchase the 16A through Shop HQ, you’ll get a free SIM card with one month of prepaid unlimited talk and text from Straight Talk.
