G-Shock’s striking FaZe Clan DW6900 is the brand’s first eSports collaboration

G-Shock has struck a partnership with e-sports organization FaZe Clan and the result is a special-edition DW6900 watch, resplendent in the red-and-black-camouflage color scheme often used by the group. The partnership is G-Shock’s first major foray into collaborations with e-sports brands, and is part of efforts to commemorate FaZe Clan’s 10th anniversary.

Although it hasn’t dabbled in e-sports before, G-Shock has released many collaborative watches with sports, lifestyle, and other major brands, and the formula for the DW6900FAZE20-4CR (that’ its full, typically G-Shock name) will be familiar to followers of G-Shock’s most desirable models.

The DW6900 base watch is technically simple, with the expected shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance, plus a stopwatch, alarm, and countdown feature. What makes it unique is the use of the red-and-black-camo design, which is seen on the group’s in-game equipment and merchandize, and the “Faze up” script that appears when the backlight is activated on the display.

Turn the watch over and the team’s logo is etched into the case back, along with a reminder that the watch has been made for the 10th anniversary. The FaZe Clan logo is also found on the display’s surround and on the strap. The watch is presented in a custom metal box, again with the red-and-black color scheme.

G-Shock has long used the DW6900 as a base for its special editions, and by G-Shock standards, the case is modestly sized at 45mm and 15mm deep. While certainly not small, it’s suitable for both small and large wrists, provided you’re happy with a big wristwatch. However, it does not come with higher-tech features found on some of the more expensive G-Shock models, such as Bluetooth or solar charging.

When asked about the linkup with FaZe Clan, G-Shock told Digital Trends:

“The G-Shock x FazeClan model is the first non-promo collaboration between G-Shock and an e-sports partner. A number of years back, G-Shock had promo pieces for Gears of War and Forza, but these were very limited-edition promotional campaigns, and this is our first formal collaboration with an e-sports brand.”

Taav Cooperman, FaZe Clan’s vice president of marketing, added:

“G-Shock is a brand that all of us grew up on. We loved the idea of bringing it into our world and creating something tangible with this special collaboration, giving some of our gaming culture to the iconic brand we love so much.”

The DW6900FAZE20-4CR will be released on November 27 and will cost $150. It will be available through G-Shock’s own online store, its retail boutiques, and through selected other retailers.

Razer Anzu smart glasses deal knocks $140 off the price tag
The Razer Anzu smart glasses placed on top of an open book.

While smartwatch deals have slowly claimed their place in the mainstream, smart glasses haven't turned out to be as popular. Gaming-focused brand Razer, however, is trying to renew interest in smart glasses with the Razer Anzu, which you can currently purchase from Best Buy at $140 off. If you'd like to give them a try, they're available for just $60, less than half their original price of $200.

There have been failures like the Google Glass and Snap Spectacles, and hopeful attempts like Oppo's Air Glass and Apple's secretive project, but the Razer Anzu smart glasses take a different spin on the wearable device by designing them for indoors. While they come with polarized sunglass lenses, their clear lenses are more useful with their blue light filter, which protects your eyes from screen glare to prevent discomfort even after hours of playing video games or working from home. The smart glasses, which also have a built-in omnidirectional microphone and speakers, may also be more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time compared to headsets and headphones. You'll enjoy smooth, stutter-free sound with the Razer Anzu's low latency audio with a 60ms Bluetooth connection.
