First introduced in February alongside the Pebble Time, the timeline interface lays out your notifications, news, reminders, and events in chronological order. The interface also acts as an app menu, as it will load and cache apps whenever you need them. Finally, you can place pins on your timeline in order to keep track of updates from sporting events and the weather.
Up until now, the timeline interface for the original Pebble and Pebble Steel was in beta, with participants having to request to join a Google+ group in order to test out the new interface. With version 3.8 of the Pebble app, however, Pebble seems confident that a good chunk of the kinks found in the beta have been ironed out enough for mass adoption.
The app update wasn’t the only thing Pebble announced, however, as the company also announced Pebble Health, a built-in health tracker developed in collaboration with Stanford University. The app lets you track the number of steps you take, as well your sleep activity and other activity patterns. In addition, Pebble Health plays nice with the timeline interface by pinning your morning sleep and evening activity summaries.
Finally, Pebble Health also offers suggestions, such as an earlier bedtime to ensure you have enough energy for the next day’s events, based on the data it gathers.
Both Pebble version 3.8 and Pebble Health are available for download through iOS and Android. However, Pebble Health is only available for the Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and the Pebble Time Round, so long as you are running firmware 3.8.
