Guard your wallets, friends. Shopping online is about to get even easier.
Now, instead of combing through various online stores and digital catalogs to find that awesome outfit you saw when you googled that image of a cocktail dress, you’ll be able to click right into the picture and check out the featured (or similar) clothing.
The new feature, known as “Shop the Look,” allows users to do more than covet a look sported by a fashion blogger or celebrity — it lets them shop the exact product simply by “tapping through and exploring the relevant products shown in the form of shopping ads.” Think of it as a sort of digital fitting room — while you may not be able to try on the clothes, you’ll be able to see what they look like in real life.
“The featured images that power the Shop the Look experience come from brands, bloggers, retailers, and publishers, which are sourced from trusted partners,” Google said in a blog post announcing its new feature. These partners include LIKEtoKNOW.it, Polyvore, and Curalate, which could be a huge help to bloggers who depend on such platforms to market themselves and their aesthetic to shoppers across the digital sphere.
Google’s partners are certainly excited about the new shopping options as well. “This is a validation by Google,” Curalate CEO Apu Gupta told philly.com. “They sought us out. They saw what we were doing and realized that Google could apply their magic to the content we were sitting on, and we could collectively do something much bigger. We have images that are ‘aware’ of objects inside them. Google has really great algorithms to apply that adds our images to search terms.”
So the next time you’re looking for the right outfit to wear to that special occasion, all you have to do is Google it.
